Projecting the Archive
A monthly look at the upcoming film in the BFI's "Projecting the Archive" strand
Every month, "Projecting the Archive" brings a rare or overlooked film back to the big screen at BFI Southbank - introduced, contextualised, and celebrated as it deserves to be.
This podcast is your companion to those screenings - a window into one of the world's great film collections.
The BFI National Archive holds over 200,000 titles - fiction films, documentaries, newsreels, amateur footage, television - much of it unseen by general audiences. Each episode, we go behind the screening to explore the film, its history, and what its survival in the archive tells us about British cinema and culture.
Whether you're a regular at BFI Southbank or discovering these films for the first time, Projecting the Archive is an invitation to look closer — at the films themselves, at the people who made them, and at the remarkable institution that keeps them alive.
